I've been delivering medical microneedling treatments for hair restoration and skin rejuvenation for over 12 years... although my technique has evolved over the years... the "pain factor" has not for my clients and sometimes a procedure ends up in a hysterical game of "chase the client" on the treatment table!
My views on pain management got changed over the past year from a few lovely ladies who's "self medication" techniques turned a needling treatment in to a well... comfortable process. I had to find out exactly what they were doing! CBD was their secret weapon and truly opened my eyes of the amazing benefits of this wonderful cannabinoid.
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a type of cannabinoid, a chemical found naturally in cannabis ( marijuana and hemp) plants. CBD doesn’t cause the “high” feeling often associated with cannabis. That feeling is caused by tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), a different type of cannabinoid.
Some people with chronic pain use topical and ingested CBD products, in particular CBD oil, to manage their symptoms. CBD oil may reduce:
- overall discomfort related to a variety of health conditions
The research on CBD products and pain management has been promising.
CBD can offer an alternative for people who have chronic pain and rely on medications, such as opioids, that can be habit-forming and cause more side effects. However, more research is needed to verify the pain-relieving benefits of CBD oil and other products.
I've tried this myself with an oil containing CBD carried in MCT oil and have to admit it certainly took "the edge" off the procedure... so much so I wound up over-treating my poor little epidermis and had track marks left on my face for several days :( But I will never do a treatment on myself without this magical cannabinoid anymore.
I realize this may not be for everyone... and much further research needs to be established before all the mysteries of marijuana and its' major and minor cannabinoids are revealed.
